What is COPD
Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) is a long-term lung condition that makes it hard to breathe. In COPD, the airways and air sacs in the lungs become damaged and inflamed. This damage makes it difficult for air to flow in and out of the lungs, leading to symptoms like persistent cough, shortness of breath, and frequent respiratory infections.
COPD usually develops over time, often due to smoking or long-term exposure to harmful chemicals or dust. While COPD can’t be cured, it can be managed with the right treatment and lifestyle changes. By quitting smoking, taking medications, and following a treatment plan, people with COPD can often improve their breathing and quality of life.
